Launching my new look blog!


As promised, the new year has opened a new chapter for my blog. I started “Authentic Vegetarian Recipes” almost five years ago as a simple place to save my recipes and share what I’ve learned. Who would have thought that it would turn into the flourishing community of foodie enthusiasts that it is today?

As you can see from my first recipe, my style was a little… clunky! But over the years, I’ve learned and improved and I hope to take the time to revisit some of my old (but still gold!) recipes to bring them up to today’s standard.

The thing that remains the same though is that each recipe will be written step-by-step with as many photos as possible, so that readers new to cookery can understand how to prepare the dishes as easily as possible.

As it is the start of a new era and a new year, I’ve decided to revisit one of my favourite and healthiest dishes to kick things off – mung bean curry. Mung beans are thought to bring good luck, health and wealth! That’s no doubt because they’re a staple in India and a great source of protein for the mostly vegetarian country.

Mung bean curry is best served with rice and any Indian bread, but we particularly like it with warm, flaky parathas fresh from the tawa.

Raita makes a great accompaniment and my husband also made a contribution – carrot chutney. That recipe is to follow!

I hope you like this new look and feel which I think is a great way to mark my fifth anniversary of blogging. Thanks must go to my family, especially my eldest son who has worked tirelessly in his Christmas break to help me bring you this fantastic new look and feel. Usne din raat ekh khar diya ees blog ko naya roop deneme!
