Bloggers Circle of friends

bloggersToday’s challenge by Darren Rowse on the ProBlogger Challenge Group was to create a piece of content that is a that is a ‘Link Post’.   This challenge was a bit hard for me until I read a couple of posts today where the bloggers have linked to my website.  That gave me an idea about today’s Post.

I have been blogging for a number of years and got to know several bloggers. One blogger Nayna Kanabar of Simply food was one of the first bloggers who always visited my blog and left comments.    As both of us wrote about vegetarian food, we had a lot in common and have now become good friends.  Both of us contribute recipes to the City Connect website.  Nayna has introduced me to several Facebook groups where bloggers can ask for help and advice and experienced bloggers are happy to help.

We have also set up a closed facebook group called the Bloggers Circle of Friends.  In this group bloggers are able to interact with other bloggers , promote their blogs and find a platform to make new blogger friends.  The Group has one rule and that is – if you share one blog post, you must leave comments on the two blog posts above yours.  This is to encourage them to make links and  discover new blogs to read.   We do have some members who have joined the Group but not really interested in interacting but the majority of them share their Posts and leave comments on relevant Posts.

Darren Rowse’s Problogger Challenge has helped me make new friends who I hope to keep in touch with.  The week has flown by and I still have to catch up on visiting some blogs.

I agree with what  Darren Rowse said in today’s podcast, reading and leaving comments on other blogs  has the following benefits:  copied and pasted from his Post:

  • It can show that you’re well read and add to your own credibility
  • It helps you to get on the radar of others that you link to – good things can come from that – great for networking
  • If groups link to one another it can help to pass traffic around
  • I’m told it can actually help your Search rankings if you link to quality sites

So if any of you reading my Post today do wish to join the facebook Group Bloggers Circle of friends, please apply through Facebook and let’s keep in touch.
