Mars, Snicker and Bounty Protein Bars Review

I was sent samples of Snickers, Mars and Bounty protein bars .  These Protein bar manufacturers want everyone to have chocolate without feeling guilty about the calories. Everyone’s taste in chocolate is different and the opinions given in this article are mine.

Mars Protein Bar

The Mars bar tasted a lot closer to he normal chocolate bar. The chocolate bar was chewy and soft with a hint of caramel and chocolate. Looking at the ingredients – it bar too was not vegetarian or vegan friendly as it contains egg albumen. Calorie wise the chocolate bar is under 200 calories and has 13% sugar.

Snickers Protein Bar

The Snickers Protein Bar tasted OK but lacked the amount of nuts a normal Snicker bar has. It did have a hint of caramel and chocolate. Looking at the ingredients – it bar too was not vegetarian or vegan friendly as it contains egg albumen. Calorie wise the chocolate bar is under 200 calories and has 10% sugar which is a half the amount in a Bounty Protein Bar.

Bounty Protein bar

Out of the three bars I tasted, the bounty bar was most disappointing as it did not have as much coconut as a normal chocolate bar. The chocolate bar was chewy and dense with just a hint of coconut. Looking at the ingredients – it was not vegetarian or vegan friendly as it contains egg albumen. Calorie wise the chocolate bar is under 200 calories but loaded with 20% sugar which is not great for diabetics.

Nutritional Breakdown (Per 51g Bar)

Total Carbohydrates – 17.3g

All the three protein bars would be perfect for anyone to have after they have been to the gym.

Having tried all three bars -I would say that they tasted OK but not something I would buy regularly.

Have you tried these protein bars?  I made these granola bars for my son using muesli

Note:  I was sent free samples of the protein bars to review.
