Infused Honey

When I was very small and living in Kenya, my dad used to sell honey. He used to travel to the countryside and buy big batches of honey combs and then process and bottle the honey. I don’t remember what the process was for getting the honey but I do remember what that honey smelt and tasted like. I also have memories of lots of bees buzzing about and have always loved watching them.

As a family, we use honey in our cooking as well as for home remedies.

Having grown up with natural and tasty honey, it’s always been very hard for me to find good quality honey in UK unless I buy the expensive range.    I was sent a few bottles of Sarah’s Wonderful Honey  to review and I have become a big fan of this thick set honey with a range of fruit, nut and spice infusion which gives the honey an interesting taste. The honey is  packaged beautifully and would be good to give as a gift on their own or in a gift hamper.  Their full range includes Blossom Honey with Ginger, Lemon, Orange, Cinnamon, Mango, Acacia Honey with Sour Cherries, Walnuts, Blueberries, Raspberries and Mixed Berries.   The honey is versatile and can be used  to add to your tea, cereal, on your toast or add it to your cooking.

My favourite is  the acacia honey with berries which I like on my toast.  It tastes delicious – sweet with just the right blend of fruity taste. I never knew honey could taste this good with the addition of fruit .  What do you like on your toast?

I start my day with a hot mug of honey and lemon with a pinch of  white pepper and ginger powder. Having a ready blended honey and lemon made it very easy for me to make this hot drink.

I also added the honey with cinnamon to my porridge  and it tasted amazing.    The sweetness of the honey combines well with the cinnamon so perfect to add to porridge or any milk pudding.  There are still several blends for me to try and I am really looking forward to that.  Do you have any favourite honey?
