Our Veganuary Journey – Accidentally Vegan Products

As mentioned in my previous Posts, a lot of products we eat everyday are already vegan and this makes the lifestyle change to vegan a lot easier. An email sent yesterday from Veganuary has a list of  products which they call accidentally vegan foods. I am not sure why they call them accidental vegan foods  as I feel that  as long as you don’t eat  meat, fish, dairy and eggs, when just starting out on your vegan journey, you are a vegan.  Once you change your eating habits, you will start to learn more and look at other ethical issues.  Just take one day at a time.  This  list  emailed by  Veganuary is comprehensive and will certainly help with us with meal planning so do check it out.

Today we made Gujarati dall, cauliflower and peas curry, saffron rice, raita using soya yogurt and chappatis. We didn’t spread anything on our chappatis but you can use a vegan substitute such as Vitalite.  Click on the links for the recipes.  The meal cooked yesterday was our regular veggie meal with just one substitution.

The raita is made using my cucumber raita recipe but I substituted the yogurt for Alpro plain soya yogurt.

What do you think about certain products being called accidentally vegan?
