I tend to make small salads with most of our meals as this is a good way of adding fresh greens to my diet. I eat the salad first as it helps to make me feel fuller and the temptation for eating extra rice or chapatis is reduced. For most salads, it’s the dressing that makes it tasty and memorable. You can use any salad ingredients for this dressing.
Wash and chop the apple, tomatoes and sweet pepper and transfer to a bowl.
For the dressing: mix olive oil, honey, lemon juice, soy sauce, tamarind and dates chutney, salt, and pepper in a bottle. Cover and shake well. Drizzle the dressing over salad.
Mix the dressing and garnish with sesame seeds.
Serve chilled as a salad or a side dish with an Indian meal.
