A Group of local bloggers teamed up to try out the Escape Room based in Cromwell’s House in Ely.   The escape room in  Oliver Cromwell’s House offers something that no other Escape Room experience can – the location, the history and the atmosphere.

After a short briefing by the taskmaster,  you enter the Escape Room which was originally  Cromwell’s former Tithe Office, an original 17th century, oak paneled room, where Oliver Cromwell  would have counted the local taxation payments. No other location can offer this unique surrounding.

The mystery is  set around a plot to murder Queen Victoria and bring about a new republic. The landlord of The Cromwell Arms asks for  your assistance to prevent this crime.  The landlord is worried by the behaviour of the secretive men and women of the Lord Protectors League who have turned the snug bar of the pub into their operational headquarters. Our team’s task was to search the room and look  for clues and unravel the plot against the life of Her Majesty Queen Victoria within 60 minutes.   The clues left were hard as the plotters had covered their tracks well and it took everyone’s knowledge to solve who was going to kill and Queen and where and how!! We managed to solve the mystery and escape with 8 minutes to spare.  I can’t tell you any more about the clues but I can assure you that the game was challenging and fun.  It was also great to meet the local bloggers.  I took a few pictures of the clues left  in the room and would  suggest that you book one of these escape room session as you will really enjoy the experience.

After Escaping from the room, take a tour of Cromwell’s house and buy a memento or two from it’s gift shop.

After coming home from spending time at Cromwell’s House, I just managed to make  a quick lunch using whatever ingredients I had in the fridge. You can adjust the vegetables and fruit is per your taste or whatever you have in the fridge.   Hunger and resources in my fridge helped create this snack  which tasted good!!
