OXO Tower Restaurant Brasserie Review

The rooftop Oxo Tower Brasserie in South Bank is in the Iconic Oxo Tower which is a London Riverside landmark.  It used to be owned by the OXO brand but had fallen into disrepair in the 70’s when the Coin Street Community Builders (CSCB) began a 20 million major refurbishment project to transform the building.  London’s South Bank a great place to live, work in, and visit.  The building is within walking distance of Tate Modern and the Blackfriars bridge.  The street along the Riverside is always busy with local workers as well as tourists.  For anyone visiting London – do take the time to observe the artwork and murals you will see along the street and under the arches of the bridges and in the subways.  Take the time to listen to the street musicians too. The place is full of history. You will see these murals as you walk under the Blackfriars Bridge.

After sightseeing, do go and have a meal at the restaurants in the OXO Tower. We went to a late lunch at the Oxo Tower Brassiere. We chose this restaurant as it had a vegetarian menu with vegan options.

The service at the restaurant was impeccable and by the end of the meal, we were chatting with the waiter as though we had known him for years. The waiter told us that the restaurant wasowned by Harvey Nichols. For starters most of us went for the Roasted butternut squash soup, grilled sweetcorn, lime crème fraîche, chilli rouille and the Steamed buns, tempura king oyster mushroom, miso soy dipping sauce .   Both were delicious.  The creme freche was  a perfect balance to the creamy soup.

For the main dish we had the Falafel, red pepper and feta salad, spiced pomegranate dressing  and the Tempura nanami tofu, miso Asian slaw, bok choy.  Both dishes were presented perfectly and we couldn’t wait to dig in.  The padron peppers and the pomegranate with the salad dressing gave the  felafel a lovely taste.  The tofu too tasted great with the miso slaw.  Both these dishes were served with side dishes of baby potatoes and broccoli.

The food courses were filling  and we thought that we didn’t have much room for dessert but we soon demolished the dessert too.

The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere, spacious, well lit with very attentive staff who took an interest in out chatter. The menu was quite broad and well thought out. As mentioned before lots of options for vegans.  Food was tasty and well presented. We would certainly go there again.
