Fruity and Nutty Porridge with cinnamon (vegan)

Jump to Recipe

For my breakfast, I love having cold overnight oats with fruit amd yogurt but my husband likes to have hot oats with fruit and milk.  Either way, oats makes a good healthy wholesome breakfast. There are lots of different ways of making oats and each family has a favourite My way of making oats is quick and can be packed to be taken to eat on the go.

Ingredients for one small serving:

  • ½ cup porridge oats
  • 1 cup oats milk (You can use any milk)
  • ½ cup any frozen fruit (I chose berries such as blueberries, blackberries and cranberries)
  • a few nuts such as cashews, almonds amd walnuts
  • 1 tsp Honey ( Use maple syrup if you are a vegan)
  • 1 tsp. butter or substitute
  • some cinnamon to sprinkle on top of porridge

Method:

  1. Transfer the oats, milk and fruit into a saucepan.

2. Cook this on a low heat stirring often – until it starts to thicken and not much milk remains.

3. Add butter or butter substitute and remove the porridge into a serving dish. You can add honey to it if you want, or sliced bananas depending on your mood.

4.You can also add nuts and sprinkle with cinnamon on your porridge.
