Activities to Keep You Busy While Waiting for Food to Cook

It is sometimes hard to know what to do when you are cooking and waiting for something to finish in the oven. There might not be enough time to go out or get fully involved in another activity, but you do not want to stand around watching the oven waiting for the alarm to go off! So, what are some of the best activities to do while waiting for food to finish cooking? There are a number of ways to spend this time that can be fun, valuable, or time-saving. This post will look at a few of the best ways to spend this time.

 Clean Up

Perhaps the best use of time while waiting for food to cook in the oven is cleaning up. There is nothing worse than having to clean up the kitchen after eating dinner, so you can save time by doing a lot of the work ahead of time. This can include washing up pans, putting away ingredients, and wiping surfaces.

 Lay the Table

Everything can feel rushed and chaotic when serving up dinner, especially if you have cooked for a group of people. To avoid this mad rush, try spending this time setting the table. You can take your time to lay out knives and forks, put condiments and starters on the table whilst waiting for the main course. You could even light a few candles and put some background music on to create a more enjoyable dining atmosphere.  When entertaining big groups, sometimes it’d great to lay out the food as a buffet so everyone can serve themselves.

 Play Online Casino Games

As mentioned, there is often not quite enough time to get fully stuck into another activity when waiting for food to cook in the oven. A great option is playing online casino games, which can keep you entertained for just 5 or 10 minutes (or longer). You can also do this while standing in the kitchen or relaxing on the sofa. The best online casino will have a wide selection of games to choose from, including blackjack, slot games, poker, and roulette. The thrilling gameplay and colorful graphics can keep you entertained and bring some excitement into your life while cooking.

 Catch Up on Texts/Emails

Do you often feel overwhelmed with texts, calls, social media tags, and emails? This is a common problem in today’s digital age, so you might find it useful to spend this time catching up on all of these activities. This will help you stay connected with everyone and feel on top of your daily communication.  This is also a great time to take photos of your food to share later on social media.

Read

Another good activity that you can do for just 5 or 10 minutes (or longer) is reading. Reading can enrich your life in various ways, including helping you forget the stresses of daily life, expand your horizons, improve your knowledge and vocabulary, and reduce stress. It is also never hard to find a book that piques your interest, and you could keep it in the kitchen for reading while you wait for the food to cook. Of course, this could include browsing a vegan cookbook or this website for new recipes to try!

These are a few of the best ways to spend that awkward time waiting for food to finish cooking. You will want to make the most of this time, and these are all valuable activities that will improve your life in different ways.
