Hummus with garam masala and Froothie Evolve Blender Review

Jump to Recipe

I made this hummus with a dash of garam masala within minutes in my Froothie Evolve.  I always get excited when I get new gadgets for my kitchen.  Froothie Evolve has actually changed the way I will be cooking.   The blender has high speed blending, the latest in technology and stylish design into one fantastic cooking machine. To see me unboxing the gadget so that you know exactly what you are getting -check out the video here. Over the coming weeks, I will be using the Froothie Evolve regularly and sharing my reviews.

With Froothie Evolve you get 2 jugs – both made of tempered glass.  The first jug has a heating element which allows you to cook & blend or steam & blend (if you use the steaming function and the stainless steel basket). The first jug is going to be perfect for my soups and steamed vegetables.   The second jug is a high speed blender jug with 6 blades to give you the smoothest blending result possible. For the hummus I used the second jug.  Both the lids of the jugs have different functions.  The second jug’s lid has a vacuum option which can be used when making smoothies or blending fruit and vegetables.  This ensures that there is zero oxidation, as air is removed from the jug prior to blending the smoothie or fruits and vegetables.

Froothie Evolve is the  easiest blender to use as it has 10 preset programs including a cleaning one. It’s also the first blender with Smart Technology.  It has Bluetooth  which allows you use your phone to turn on the blender.  You can also add all the ingredients to steam at night time, and in the morning when you wake up, you start the steam function by using your phone, without going to the kitchen, and a few minutes later blend the steamed food  to make soup, a sauce or baby food. It also has voice activation to activate certain functions by voice.

It’s also very safe to use.  I discovered that the machine does not start until the jug is attached to the machine.  It also stops if you open the cooking jug so there is no risk of any hot liquid splashing and the motor has an automatic switch if it ever overheats.

Before using Froothie Evolve or any new kitchen gadget, it’s advisable to read the user manual to get the most out of any gadget.

Now to my really easy recipe for hummus.  In the past I have used a normal food processor  to make my hummus. Today I used the Froothie Evolve

Ingredients:

    • 1 can chickpeas (drained weight 240 gms)
    • 2 tbls sesame seeds
    • 2 tbls lemon juice
    • Pink Himalayan salt to taste
    • ½ tsp pepper
    • ½ tsp garam masala (can add more if you want to)
    • 1 Kenyan green chili
    • 2 cloves of garlic
    • 2-3 tabls extra virgin Olive Oil

Method:

  1.  Mix all the ingredients and transfer them all into the Froothie Evolve.  Save a tiny amount of sesame seeds and garam masala  for garnishing.  Use the Pulse mode for a minute and the hummus is ready!!

2. Remove in serving bowls and garnish with sesame seeds and garam masala and it’s ready to eat with pitta, wraps or parathas. The choice is limitless.
