Cutting out the meat does not mean skimping out on flavour, and these six vegetarian finger foods can definitely prove that herbivores do not miss out on tasty snacks. Whether you are considering making the switch to vegetarianism, are hosting a veggie for a dinner party, or are looking to swap out some of your unhealthier snacks for something a bit more nutritious, you have come to the right place. Get ready for your mouth to be watering!
1. Dips, Hummus and Crudites
Possibly one of the healthiest snacks out there, but equally as delicious. There are literally hundreds of tasty veggie and vegan dips you can whip up in no time. Partner them with your favorite sticks (carrots, peppers, and cucumbers are a firm favorite), and you have a simple and tasty finger food to enjoy. Bonus points to this one as it doesn’t leave your fingers greasy or sticky, so you can still enjoy the best online casinos USA without leaving mucky marks on your screen! My recipe for homemade Hummus is here
2. Spicy Edamame
Japan arguably has some of the best food on the planet, so one of their favourite snacks is obviously going be just as delicious. Edamame are soybeans that are still in their pod. Boil them and season them with salt, pepper, garlic, and chili powder, and you have an easy on-the-go snack. Bite the beans out of the pod and suck off all that flavour. What makes edamame a great on-the-go finger food is that the pods are natural and biodegradable! For this recipe, it’s best to get the frozen packs from any Supermarket. These are easy to boil and flavour within minutes.
3. Falafel Bites
This versatile snack can be an entire meal if you plate it up with pita, salad, and chips, but falafel balls on their own make the perfect vegetarian finger food. Falafel bites are completely packed with flavorful herbs and spices like coriander, cumin, parsley, and mint, and they’re even better with your favorite dip! You can easily find falafel bites in the store, but they are also really fun to make yourself. My recipe for making falafels is here
4. Vegetable Curry Puffs
There had to be some sort of pastry on this list somewhere, and of course, it has to be one that gets your tastebuds dancing. If you are a fan of curry, this one is definitely for you. Curry puffs are the Sri Lankan version of samosas, the main difference being they are made with puff pastry instead. Again, you can probably pick up vegetable curry puffs in some of the stores, but if you make them yourself, you can flavour them exactly how you want. My recipe for Samosa puffs is here
5. Mozzarella Sticks
Cheese is a vegetarian’s best friend, so of course, this list wouldn’t be complete without some sort of cheesy finger food. And mozzarella sticks have to be one of the best. The crispy outside, the stringy, cheesy, soft center; nothing quite beats a hot, fresh mozzarella stick. Dipped in a tangy tomato sauce or a sweet chili dip and your vegetarian finger food dreams have been made!
As you can see, some of the best finger foods are vegetarian, and neither you nor your guests will be disappointed with these tasty snacks.
